She was a fire, a storm, a diamond, so bright. I loved her, oh I loved her, I know I did, because what love I gave her, she gave back. The light in her eyes were something celestial, her lips wove galaxies, her eyes were the planets forever bound to a sun. I knew I had her, I knew she wouldn’t fail me when I needed her. I knew, I knew I knew I knew. I thought I knew.
Her eyes began seeing things that they hadn’t before. The shadows grew longer, the red stretched her. It ate at her, hollowing her out, clawed at her face till I didn’t recognize her.
Now we lie alone and scream.
